Smashed!
At Regents Park Tennis Club on Monday June 16th 2003 Celebrities lent their star power to smashed! with Ariel Champions of the Future. This was the UK`s first, major urban celebrity tennis event encouraging kids to do more than just watch. The festival was a free event open to the public and celebrated the famous game by bringing together stars from the world of sport, television and music with the public.
On top of it all, Britain`s top tennis player Tim Henman took on his detractor Jonathan Ross in a centre court grudge match with hilarious results. Despite the handicaps (such as playing with a cricket bat!), Tim beat Jonathan 6-3 in what was perfect preparation for the upcoming singles at Wimbledon! The court has never been quite so glamorous with the two boys bringing along their own cheerleaders/ballgirls in the shape of Penny Lancaster and Nell McAndrew . Ex-British Champion and Tennis beauty, Annabel Croft was there to see that the match was fair and above board.
Many of Cup`s favourite celebrities came along for the day to participate in our celebrity tournament and throw their weight behind smashed! Despite looking favourites throughout the tournament, Westlife`s Mark Feehily and Radio 1`s Timmi Magic fell at the final hurdle, being defeated by The Bill`s Jim Alexander and Wimbledon AFC`s Kevin Cooper.
