Razorlight, Sex Pistols Hit Musos Awards!

Razorlight and Primal Scream cleaned up at the Muso Awards 2005 with a pair of awards, while live highlights included a special guest appearance from Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols.

Razorlight and Primal Scream were crowned the bands most musicians love on Wednesday as they picked up two and three awards, respectively, at the Musos 2005 – the awards voted for by bands themselves.

Xfm’s very own Claire Sturgess and comic Andrew Maxwell ably hosted the shindig at London’s KOKO, while bands Dogs, Metro Riots, The Lancaster Bombers & Shane McGowan and the Young Offenders Institute kept the fans entertained.

Picking up the awards for Best Album and Best Drummer, Razorlight’s Andy Burrows and Carl Dalemo accepted the band’s awards, while Graham Coxon picked up the award for Best Single with a polite “Thanks”.

The other big winners were Primal Scream, who won the awards for Best Keyboard Player, Best Bassist and the coveted Musos Muso Award for legendary group.

However, the surprise of the evening came when former Sex Pistol Glen Matlock strolled on stage to join Metro Riots for a version of his former band’s hit, ‘Pretty Vacant’.

Arctic Monkeys picked up their first major award for Best New Act, presented by James Sellar of the MMF to Domino Records Laurence Bell on their behalf.
